The MARitime Low earth orbit Insight Network (MARLIN) is born. MARLIN will introduce satellite communications and 5G backhaul to connect fishing vessels to a live user dashboard, enablng bycatch alerts and events submitted by Skippers at sea to be logged in near real time. Funding for MARLIN’s development was awarded by the UK Space Agency (UKSA) and the European Space Agency (ESA).
The full project spans ESA’s ARTES Definition and Technology Phases, which began on December 2nd 2024 with a contractual end date of June 2nd, 2026.
MARLIN represents the future of the Insight 360 Monitoring System, with Insight 360 hardware developed over the past few years unlocking access to a connected experience for Fishmen, Regulators and Government Agencies to monitor and mitigation bycatch together.
